Great value, great bike September 3, 2010 Quentin Starin (Minneapolis, MN) For the price, this really is a solid bike. I couldn't imagine better for $150 and I honestly expected worse. Assembly was simple and straight forward. The instructions and diagrams were perfectly clear. Everything was packaged well. The outer box had minor damage when it arrived, but everything inside was in place and present. As I put the bike together it was obvious that the quality was high, especially considering the price. Everything fit together perfectly and the bike was very solid, not once did I fear I would strip out any threads despite making all the screws quite snug. The options on the "computer" are very limited - really, you are just choosing what information to be displayed - speed, time, distance, calories burned, etc. Of course, I knew that was the compromise being made to achieve the low price. I also will say that I found the seat to be comfortable and expect it will last quite a while. The one point against this bike, and it's really the only one I've found so far, is that the resistance is not equal all the way through the pedal's rotation. There are a couple of points where it is harder to push the pedals through. I assume this is due to a light flywheel and generally cheap construction in the magnetic eddy current brake (probably fewer magnets). Considering the price of the bike, I figure this is a fair trade off. Once I pedal somewhat fast the motion becomes smoother, so it's not a big detraction. Also, it is true that adjusting the seat position is relatively more difficult than other bikes where the seat alone can move after pulling a spring-loaded pin. But it is not at all difficult in an absolute sense to adjust the seat. Once I put the bike together and adjusted it I said to myself, "oh, well that was actually pretty easy to do." I would strongly recommend this bike for anyone looking to get a stationary exercise bike and not spend $400+. I am exceptionally satisfied with my purchase.
Excellent value for price. But beware of damage during shipment due to poor packaging. September 3, 2010 LosAnnegeles (Los Angeles) Marcy Recumbent Mag Cycle I received this bike in its huge retail carton with no outer carton protecting it. When I opened the box, the inner contents were all askew and hardly anything was cushioning the heavy pieces. It was as though someone had just thrown all the pieces in the box without any worry. Unfortunately, the main frame was bent and separating in half due to all of the pressure bumping up against it. Plus, there was a hole and several dents in the main frame as well. Could this have been a return from another customer? I had noticed when initially opening the box that it had been previously opened and taped back up. Fortunately and luckily for me, Amazon.com came through and accepted the return (I was outside the return window!). The reviews on this bike are all very good and Amazon.com has the best price / free S/H / no taxes. But do I dare re-order it and take the chance of the same thing happening again?? It's quite a pain to unpack it; then have to re-pack and take it to UPS for return shipment! Amazon.com is exceptional in EVERY way ... just wish they would work on improving their shabby packaging practices. I note the high number of complaints in this area when reading customer reviews. Amazon.com, are you listening?
falls apart August 31, 2010 S. University The inner mechanism of this bike (on main frame) fell apart on day use 7 of this cheaply made bike. Would not recommend. Company will send a new one, if I send this back at my own expense. Shocking customer service!
Just what I ordered!! August 19, 2010 Patricia L. Gahn (Moreno Valley, California United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have Spinal Stenosis, Arthritis, etc...The Physical Therapist suggested an Excercise Bike as a way to improve my strength and mobility without more injury. My husband is Diabetic and needs to increase his excerise level to enhance needed weight loss....SO...I began to look for an excercise bike I could afford and would help us meet our goals. I chose this bike....it came almost overnite...All the parts were there...The instructions were understandable...Everything fit..the telemetry functioned. It is not a Cadilac BUT it does exactly what we expected. It is quiet, comfortable, and easy to move around....And we are using it.
